The Freeport Economic Development Corporation (EDC) offers a variety of 50% matching small businesses improvement grants to help offset the cost on many small business improvement projects.
The purpose of this program is to promote the development and expansion of new and existing business enterprises within the City limits of Freeport, Texas and enhance the economic welfare of the citizens of the City by securing and retaining business enterprises and maintaining a higher level of employment, economic activity, and stability.
The Freeport EDC has a total amount of $150,000 allocated toward small business improvement grants for the 2022-2023 fiscal year. These grants are open to all business buildings and facilities located within the City of Freeport. Both existing and incoming businesses are encouraged to apply.
Type of Grants and Amounts
- Facade Improvements - 50% of project costs up to $10,000
- Sign Improvements - 50% of project costs up $3,500 for existing businesses and $1,000 for new businesses
- Property Improvements - 50% of project costs up to $10,000
- Landscaping Improvements - 50% of project costs up to $10,000
- Fire Suppression System Grant - 50% of project costs up to $25,000
- MEGA Grant (only 1 MEGA issued per fiscal year) - 50% of project costs up to $30,000
