BIRMINGHAM, AL (November 8, 2023) – The city of Freeport, Texas has partnered with Retail Strategies, a leading community and retail development firm, to revitalize its retail sector. This collaboration is geared towards attracting diverse new retailers, stimulating retail economic development and ultimately strengthening Freeport’s retail landscape.

Robert Johnson, the executive director of the Freeport Economic Development Corporation stated, “We recognized the need for a strategic approach to propel Freeport’s economic growth, and bringing Retail Strategies on board was a pivotal decision. Their extensive network within the commercial real estate industry and among retailers is unmatched, and their strong reputation in Texas adds a layer of credibility to our efforts. With Retail Strategies as our partner, we’re confident in our ability to attract top-tier businesses that align with our community’s vision for prosperity.'”

“Freeport is ripe for continued growth with its strong employment base, and our team will leverage its growth and attractive location for retail opportunities,” stated Christopher Bontrager, vice president of the western region for Retail Strategies. “We are confident that Freeport will continue further retail development and transform into a vibrant retail hub, meeting the needs of its residents and visitors.”

Recently, the city has experienced a wave of new developments, including the addition of Taco Bell and Starbucks, all contributing to the dynamic growth of Freeport.

Retail Strategies will conduct comprehensive consumer and real estate market analyses to define the tailored retail trade zone. These analyses will facilitate the creation of a targeted list of suitable retail and dining establishments that align with market potential. Following an on-site assessment, Retail Strategies will take the initiative to engage potential retailers, property proprietors, brokers, and developers on the city’s behalf. Additionally, the firm will represent the city at key industry events such as ICSC Red River, ICSC Las Vegas, and Retail Live conferences.
