Port Freeport marks 100 years with community tours and leadership reflection
9 Dec 2025
Residents had a rare chance to go beyond the gates at Port Freeport as part of its Centennial Community Tours, offering a firsthand look at one of Brazoria County’s largest economic drivers.
The event Saturday drew families, longtime residents and first-time visitors eager to see the operations that help move cars, fruit, steel, rice, energy products and other goods across global trade routes.
Port Freeport CEO and Executive Director Phyllis Saathoff said the milestone represents decades of planning, investment and community support.
“I have such gratitude for the decisions made 100 years ago, because what we enjoy today and all the prosperity is just amazing,” Saathoff said.
