Smarter Water Infrastructure. Stronger Downtown.

One of the most important improvements to Downtown Freeport isn't something you can easily see, but it's something businesses will benefit from for years to come.

The Freeport Economic Development Corporation partnered with the City of Freeport on a $219,127 downtown water valve improvement project designed to make our water system more reliable and more efficient.

Why does this matter?

Previously, when maintenance or repairs were needed, large sections of downtown could lose water service. For businesses, that often meant interruptions to daily operations and, in some cases, lost revenue.

By installing additional isolation valves throughout the downtown area, maintenance crews can now isolate much smaller sections of the system.

What this means for Downtown:

  •  Smaller service interruption areas during repairs
  •  Faster maintenance response
  •  Improved reliability for downtown businesses
  •  Better protection for customers, restaurants, and property owners

This project is part of our continued investment in strengthening Downtown Freeport's infrastructure and creating an environment where businesses can thrive.

While projects like this often happen underground and out of sight, they make a lasting difference for the businesses and residents who depend on reliable infrastructure every day.
